Hoffman Estates man pleads guilty to restraining woman after argument

A Hoffman Estates man pleaded guilty to unlawful restraint for preventing a woman from driving away after a Fourth of July argument, court records show.
In exchange for his guilty plea, James Wright, 39, was sentenced to five years in prison. He received credit for 126 days in custody.
Prosecutors say that on July 4, Wright kept the woman's identification card from her. They argued, and the woman collected her children and got into her car in an attempt to leave, prosecutors said during Wright's bond hearing in July.
They say he stood in the driver's door, preventing her from closing it. Eventually she managed to close the door and pull away with Wright still hanging onto the car.
