One injured in Marengo fire

One person was injured in a fire on the 700 block of East Grant Highway in Marengo late Monday, authorities said.

Marengo police and fire were called to the structure fire at 10:14 p.m., authorities said in a news release.

One person was removed from the residence and transported by helicopter to Loyola Medical Center, authorities said.

His condition remains unknown.

Marengo fire activated a mutual aid box that brought additional units from nearby towns.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Marengo Fire Department, authorities said.

The road was shut down due to the emergency response, but has been reopened, authorities said.
