District 214 proposes 3.3 percent tax levy hike

Northwest Suburban High School District 214 has proposed a 3.3 percent tax levy hike for 2017.

The increase reflects a 2.1 percent increase in the consumer price index, plus an estimate of new property coming onto the tax rolls. The actual tax levy will be set by the Cook County Clerk's office next spring, but taxing bodies are required to set a tentative levy by the end of the year. Last year, the levy went up 1.8 percent.

The board will hold a public hearing before taking a final vote on the levy increase Dec. 7.
