17-year-old charged in Waukegan shooting

A 17-year-old Waukegan resident has been charged in the shooting of two teenagers on Thursday.

Michael O'Conner faces two counts of aggravated battery with a firearm. O'Conner was arrested about 6 p.m. Thursday.

The shooting took place about 2:30 p.m. Thursday on the 1400 block of Dugdale Road. The victims, Waukegan boys in their midteens, were taken to area hospitals after suffering nonlife-threatening leg injuries.

The weapon suspected of being used in the shooting was recovered, police said.

O'Conner, who is being charged as an adult, appeared in bond court Friday morning in Waukegan and is being held at the Lake County hail on $500,000 bail.

He is scheduled to appear in court again at 9 a.m. Nov. 30 in Room C120.
