Mount Prospect honors three businesses

The Mount Prospect Economic Development Commission Thursday honored three local businesses for their contributions to the community.

George Tselos received the Budding Business Award for opening two successful restaurants in the downtown area in the last five years: Emerson's Ale House in 2014 and Honey Butter restaurant in 2016.

Parenti & Raffaelli custom woodworking and cabinetry, founded in 1951, received the Enduring Business Award. The business is in the process of relocating from it's overcrowded downtown location to a 60,000-square-foot building in the Kensington Business Center.

Contractor and developer Nicholas & Associates won the Entrepreneurial Business Award. The company, founded in 1978, has completed more than 500 projects, including the Mount Prospect Ice Arena.

Pointing to the family-owned business' 40 years in the suburb, Nick Nicholas Jr. said, "We love this place and we appreciate everybody in it."
