Learn history of Great Lakes Naval Station

The Lake Villa Historical Society will host "Brick by Brick," a history of the Naval Station Great Lakes at 7 p.m. Tuesday, at the Lake Villa District Library, 1001 E. Grand Ave., Lake Villa.

Eric Wright, education specialist of the National Museum of the American Sailor Naval History and Heritage Museum at Great Lakes, will present the program exploring the history of the station from its founding in 1911, through two world wars, development of modern warfare technology and its current role as home of Recruit Training Command.

It is the U.S. Navy's only boot camp and training support center providing technical post-recruit training in 80 different courses of instruction. The public is welcome. Refreshments will be served. Call (847) 245-3929 for more information.
