Firefighters battle Vernon Hills blaze

Firefighters from Countryside Fire Protection District extinguished a house fire on the 200 block of Amber Lane in Vernon Hills.

District officials said they were called to the blaze just before 4 p.m. Sunday. Smoke and fire was visible from the second floor of the single-family home, fire officials said.

The residents of the house were not inside at the time of the fire, but three dogs were rescued. There were no injuries reported.

The house was deemed uninhabitable by the smoke and fire damage, officials said.

No cause has been determined.

The fire district received assistance from six other departments and Vernon Hills police.
