Waukegan man jailed on charges of solicitation to meet a child

Charles Reed, 34, of Waukegan was in custody Friday on $25,000 bail on a charge of solicitation to meet a child. Waukegan police said a teen girl was approached about 8 a.m. Tuesday at Beach Road and Bertrand Lane as she waited for her school bus. Police said Reed gave the girl his phone number and asked her to send texts. Police were notified and on Wednesday, Waukegan police with and the Lake County State's Attorney's Office Cyber Crimes Division participated in a joint undercover operation. According to police, investigators posed as a juvenile female teenager and received a lewd image and request to meet from Reed. Police took Reed into custody without incident in the 3900 block of Bertrand Lane. He was held in the Lake County jail with a court date of Oct. 11.
