Schaumburg Township to host Food Pantry Summit
Schaumburg Township will host an all-day Food Pantry Summit on Friday, Oct. 6, that will bring together more than 50 area leaders from government agencies, churches and other local food pantries in Cook, Lake and DuPage counties.
The summit aims to bolster communication and collaboration among leaders to create pantries that will better serve residents.
Topics to be covered will span networking, best practices and how to gently encourage clients to choose healthier options. They also will touch on Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, childhood hunger, the obesity epidemic and more.
The Schaumburg Township Food Pantry alone serves more than 700 families per month and is entirely donation-based.
