Chicago man charged in Antioch-area shooting

A Chicago man remains held in Lake County jail on $250,000 bail after his arrest on allegations he opened fire last month on two people near Antioch, authorities said Tuesday.

Derrius L. Crenshaw, 23, of the 4700 block of South King Drive, was arrested at his home on a felony charge of aggravated discharge of a firearm stemming from the Sept. 12 shooting, Lake County Sheriff's police said.

Authorities said sheriff's deputies responded to a report of shots fired about 10:30 a.m. that day, in the area of North Addison Lane and Route 173 in Antioch Township.

An investigation revealed an altercation took place between two adults and Crenshaw at a business in the area of Route 59 and Route 173 in Antioch, according to the sheriff's office. The victims left the area and drove to Addison Lane, but Crenshaw followed and opened fire, sheriff's police said. Nobody was hit, authorities said.

Sheriff's detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Crenshaw on Sept. 22, and he was taken into custody by the Chicago Police Department on Sept. 24, authorities said.

His next court date is Thursday, authorities said.
