Waukegan police investigate similar armed robberies

Waukegan police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within minutes of each other Thursday night.

In the first incident, police say two suspects approached an adult male victim on the 900 block of Judge Place and took property and money, as one of the suspects displayed a handgun. The suspects are described as a black male in his late 20s with a thin build and approximately 6', and a Hispanic male in his early 30s with an athletic build and approximately 5'5".

About 20 minutes later, two male suspects took property and money from another man on the 100 block of South Butrick Street, while one of the suspects displayed a handgun.

The suspects are described as a Hispanic male in his 20s and approximately 5'9", and another male about the same height.

Police said they recognize the similarities in the incidents, but are currently treating the cases as separate investigations. Those with information are asked to call police at (847) 360-9001.
