Naperville art fair delights with creative sounds, sights

Artists at 135 booths during the Riverwalk Fine Art Fair in Naperville made friends with art experts and novices alike as they sold their creativity during the 32nd annual event.

Artists who set up shop in their hometown, a different state or even another country sold home decorations, jewelry, sculpture, pottery, graphics, glassware, woodwork and pieces that defied labels during the fair's first day.

Judges began visiting booths to determine who would win 15 awards from the show, presented by the Naperville Art League.

The top honor is the Best of Show Award, followed by 10 Awards of Excellence and four Merit Awards.

While shoppers browsed, the DuPage Symphony Orchestra and the Chicago Sinfonietta took turns playing sets from an amphitheater built into the Riverwalk near Eagle Street.

The free-admission event continues from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday along Jackson Avenue, Main Street and the Riverwalk in downtown Naperville.
