Men charged with stealing money in Naperville meetup to sell festival tickets

Two men have been charged with robbing a person in Naperville during a meetup to exchange festival tickets, authorities said Thursday.

Jeremy Mitchell, 21, of the 400 block of Valley Forge Court in Aurora, and Jaden Smith, 18, of the 100 block of Norwell Lane in Round Lake, are each charged with one count of felony aggravated robbery.

About 3 p.m. Aug. 2 in a parking lot at Jefferson Avenue and Route 59, police said Mitchell and Smith are accused of stealing $280 from a person they met after scheduling a date and place online to buy festival tickets.

Police said Mitchell is accused of driving a vehicle to get the men to the meetup spot, where they said Smith took the money. When the victim tried to reclaim the money, police said Smith showed a stun gun and threatened to use it.

Police said they arrested Smith Tuesday, when he was picked up in Will County on an unrelated charge, while Mitchell was arrested Aug. 30.

Jaden Smith is charged with aggravated robbery in a meetup to exchange festival tickets for $280.
