Gurnee library to host fashion-themed events

The Warren-Newport Public Library in Gurnee is hosting two events about the history of fashion and design this week.

At 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Ellie Presents will host an event called "Unmentionables: The Rise and Fall of Ladies' Underwear," which seeks to unveil facts and expose myths about women's underclothes.

At 6 p.m. Thursday, Petra Slinkard of the Chicago History Museum will host an event called "Chicago Styled: Fashioning the Magnificent Mile." Slinkard will discuss the history behind the designers and stores that built the iconic Chicago thoroughfare.
