Buffalo Grove Days parade 'a great time'

The hundreds of Buffalo Grove residents and visitors who lined up along Bernard Drive Sunday morning were treated to beautiful weather and bountiful fun during the annual Buffalo Grove Days Parade.

More than 85 entries, including floats, antique and classic cars, fire and police vehicles, marching bands, took part in the march, according to parade co-chairman Lee Orlov. And, of course, there was plenty of candy flying around for the kids along the route.

"People love it. It's a very well-attended function and people have a great time," Orlov said.

This year's grand marshal was the unofficial queen of Buffalo Grove, Maureen "Mo" Welborn, who was joined by her grandchildren, Alex and Katie, as she waved to the crowds along the route.

"We love the bands and the (Shriners) with the little cars and the motorcycles, and just the whole camaraderie of it. It's a lot of fun," said 15-year resident Patti Lorenzo as she watched the activity go by with her husband, Sam,

The parade is a fixture of the village's annual five-day Labor Day weekend festival, Buffalo Grove Days, which wraps up Monday.
