Women-focused fitness chain coming to Long Grove

An expanding fitness chain geared toward women plans to open in the Sunset Grove development in Long Grove.

Burn Boot Camp, which recently located in Lake Zurich, will occupy space in the plaza anchored by Sunset Foods at Route 83 and Aptakisic Road. Owner Michelle David Adams, a Barrington native, said the facility should open in October just north of Sunset Foods.

Adams, who also owns the Lake Zurich facility, said three more Burn Boot Camp locations are planned for the Northwest suburbs. She said the chain has caught on, in part, because no two workouts are alike.

"That's one of the reasons Burn becomes addictive," she said.

Burn Boot Camp is a rapidly growing, nationwide workout chain focused on women. It touts burst and strength training along with customized nutrition and meal planning recommendations.

Founded by the husband-and-wife team of Devan and Morgan Kline in 2012, Burn Boot Camp has about 70 locations across the country and nearly 300 in various development stages, according to the company. The concept of the North Carolina-based chain is to have a 45-minute camp where "like-minded women can come together, build confidence and inspire one another through fitness."

Burn Boot Camp has child care and some coed fitness classes.

With the new workout facility, Sunset Grove will fill another vacancy. Starbucks opened last month in space that Peet's Coffee and Tea closed in September 2015.

"I love it," Long Grove Trustee Michael Sarlitto said. "Welcome aboard."

Vernon Hills-based Pinnacle Capital Group developed the 6-year-old, $30 million retail plaza. Other tenants include Zengeler Cleaners and SportClips.

Sunset Grove is in a section of Route 83 just south of Aptakisic Road that receives an average 45,400 daily vehicles trips, according to the most recently available Illinois Department of Transportation statistics. The daily trips to the north of Aptakisic are 42,100.

"It's just great to see another business there," Long Grove Village President Bill Jacob said.
