Guitarists to give workshops, concerts at Oakton festival

A Grammy-winning artist and former lead guitarist for Paul McCartney and Wings will be giving a free technique workshop at Oakton Community College next month.

The workshop with Laurence Juber is just one part of the Oakton Community College Guitar Festival on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16, at the school's Studio One Theater, 1600 E. Golf Road, in Des Plaines.

The first day of the festival ends with a concert featuring guitarists David Onderdonk and Erich Lugosch at 8 p.m. The second day features workshops starting at 10 a.m.

The festival concludes with a Saturday evening concert featuring famed thumb picker John Knowles and Juber at 8 p.m.

Tickets for the concerts are $8 for general admission and $5 for students and seniors.
