Sept. 10 ceremony to name Schaumburg Prairie Center after mayor

A ceremony dedicating and naming Schaumburg's Prairie Center for the Arts after the village's longtime mayor, Al Larson, has been scheduled for 1 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 10, at the building at 201 Schaumburg Court.

The ceremony will take place in the outdoor plaza between the Prairie Center and the Robert O. Atcher Municipal Center if weather permits.

The village's six trustees voted unanimously in late July to rename the 31-year-old building after Larson, who has served as mayor for 30 years and been an advocate for the Prairie Center and its programs.
