Addison brothers charged with forgery of community service documents

Bail was set at $50,000 each Thursday afternoon for two Addison brothers accused of submitting false court-ordered documents to county officials.

Brett Cronan, 21, and Jack Cronan, 18, are each charged with forgery.

Prosecutors said Brett Cronan appeared in court Wednesday and claimed to have completed his court-ordered public service employment to satisfy a sentence from a previous marijuana delivery charge.

Probation officials, however, were unable to verify the community service hours had been completed. Prosecutors said he did not complete the court-ordered public service employment and that he falsified a manager's signature indicating that he had.

Jack Cronan is alleged to have presented the same forged documents to the court on Monday. His service hours were also unable to be verified.

"It is alleged that both Brett and Jack Cronan lied to the court in an attempt to free themselves from performing court-ordered community service," DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said. "Court orders are not optional and the Cronans' alleged attempts to undermine the authority of the court will not be taken lightly."
