DuPage courthouse evacuated for less than half hour, everyone OK

More than 2,750 people were evacuated from the DuPage County Judicial Center for less than a half-hour this morning.

At the time, 9:53 a.m., authorities said the evacuation was not a drill.

DuPage County Sheriff's officials said later that the building's smoke alarms were triggered by "construction dust" from third-floor renovations that entered the ventilation system.

The courthouse was reopened around 10:15 a.m.
