District 15 reminds drivers students are returning to school

With school resuming in the Northwest suburbs, Palatine Township Elementary District 15 Superintendent Scott Thompson issued a reminder to motorists to exercise extra caution.

As the second-largest elementary school district in Illinois, District 15 serves more than 12,000 students in 20 schools, many of whom ride 139 buses.

"We ask that drivers across the school district exercise caution and awareness when school begins Aug. 16 as our students will once again be out on the sidewalks, crosswalks and streets," Thompson said. "Please remember to stop and wait when a bus has its stop arm activated to ensure that all students are able to board and disembark safely."
