Pony Express? Metra adding capacity for Arlington Million race

You can take Metra to the Arlington Million Saturday and splurge on a limo back home if you get lucky.

The commuter railroad is increasing service on its Union Pacific Northwest Line to accommodate the myriad race fans converging on Arlington International Racecourse.

Doors at the track open at 11 a.m. with several races scheduled through the day, climaxing with the running of the Million at 6:19 p.m.

Metra is adding rail cars and will operate an additional inbound train, which will leave the park at 7 p.m. making all stops en route to Ogilvie Transportation Center.

Saturday's event is the 35th anniversary of the Arlington Million, part of the Breeder's Cup Challenge.

Metra is offering an $8 Weekend Pass that has unlimited rides Saturdays and Sundays or a Family Fare that permits three kids age 11 and younger to ride free with a fare-paying adult.

And, they're off! Million Week starts in Arlington Heights
