Wheeling Township seeks donations for school supply drive

Wheeling Township is collecting school supplies and backpacks for children in need as they get ready to start the school year.

The township's general assistance department is collecting the items from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays through Friday, Aug. 11, at the township offices, 1616 N. Arlington Heights Road in Arlington Heights.

The list of accepted items includes: binders, markers, colored pencils, No. 2 pencils, pencil cases, crayons, erasers, folders, rulers, glue, scissors, loose leaf paper and spiral notebooks.

Over the last five years, 1,276 backpacks have been given out to children. This year, the effort is being called the Ready4Success school supply drive.
