Lisle trustees to vote on village manager contract

More than a week after appointing Eric Ertmoed as village manager, Lisle trustees on Wednesday night are expected to approve his contract.

Trustees voted on July 24 to hire Ertmoed, who had been acting village manager since the retirement of former Village Manager Jerry Sprecher earlier this year. The board also took a vote on an "employment agreement" without releasing any details.

But Mayor Chris Pecak said the board didn't have the authority to approve the contract until after the public had the chance to review it. Therefore, a draft of Ertmoed's employment agreement has been posted on the village's website along with his compensation information.

"We didn't have the terms and conditions until we negotiated them last week," Pecak said Tuesday.

The proposed contract calls for Ertmoed to be paid a base salary of $145,000. The village also would contribute $18,857 for his medical, dental and vision insurance. In addition, Ertmoed would receive a $6,000 vehicle allowance.

With the contract details released, Lisle trustees will take a final vote on the agreement during a special meeting at 7 p.m. Wednesday at village hall, 925 Burlington Ave.

Pecak said he expects the pact to be approved.

"Eric's an excellent person for the position," he said. "He's got experience with the village. I'm confident in his abilities."

Pecak said the board decided to offer the top administrative post to Ertmoed because it didn't have time to do a formal search for a village manager.

He said hiring Ertmoed allows the board to move on to other issues.

"We've already made strides," he said. "We've settled the police contract. But we've got other work to do."
