Cops hunt man who robbed, assaulted woman in Aurora

Aurora police are asking the public for help as they investigate the sexual assault and armed robbery of a 38-year-old woman around 5 a.m. Saturday on the city's southeast side.

Police said the woman was walking in an alley on the 400 block of Marion Avenue when she was approached by a man armed with a handgun who demanded her valuables. After she gave the man her money, police said the suspect sexually assaulted her and then ordered her to leave the area.

The suspect is described as a black man in his late teens standing about 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing about 160 pounds. He was wearing dark clothing with a short Afro and no facial hair.

The woman was treated at an Aurora hospital.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at (630) 256-5500, Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at (630) 892-1000 or submit tips using the police department's "My PD" app. Calls to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and any information that leads to an arrest qualifies for a cash reward of up to $5,000.
