Lake Children's Advocacy Center to celebrate 30th anniversary

The Lake County Children's Advocacy Center in Gurnee will celebrate its 30th anniversary Aug. 2.

A gathering is planned for 11:30 a.m. at the center, 123 N. O'Plaine Road. It will include the opening of a new Healing Garden, which will serve as comfort to children and their families while present at the advocacy center.

The Healing Garden was constructed with donations raised by the Lake County Children's Advocacy Center's Friends Committee. More than 400 Lake County residents contributed to completing the construction.

The goal of the center is to investigate and help successfully prosecute offenders of child abuse without causing further trauma to the child victim.
