Schaumburg regulates large hauling trailers

Schaumburg trustees on Tuesday voted 4-2 to regulate parking of oversized hauling trailers on residential property.

Because Trustee Mark Madej changed his "no" vote on the recommendation for the new law to "yes" for its final approval, Mayor Al Larson was spared repeating his tiebreaking vote from a week earlier.

The law restricts hauling trailers taller than 9 feet and longer than 25 feet from parking in residential driveways for more than one day each month.

However, owners of such trailers may seek a special-use permit if they can show the layout of their property lends itself to not being a hardship for neighbors.

The law does not apply to RVs of any size, but will prohibit aircraft. There have been two airplane fuselages in village driveways.
