Lindell E. 'Corky' Walker of Lake of Egypt

Lindell E. "Corky" Walker, 80, of the Lake of Egypt, died Thursday, July 20 at the Community Living Center at the V.A. Medical Facility in Marion.

Lindell retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation in 1991. He worked as a surveyor and an engineer.

He was a veteran of the U. S. Army. He and his first wife, Hattie were very active with the 4H in Union County and he loved his quarter horses.

Lindell was born Jan. 14, 1937 in Cobden to Willard and Ellen Elizabeth (Harden) Walker.

Lindell was first married to Hattie Mae Smith in June 21, 1962 in Cobden. She preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 1988. He then married Linda C. Murray Brandon on Jan. 6, 1996 in Carterville.

Surviving are his wife, Linda Brandon Walker of Marion; his children, James "Jimmy" Walker and his wife, Cindy of Anna, Robert Walker of Newnan, Geordia, Tod Alan Walker of Irving, Texas, Elizabeth Kay "Beth" Brunkhorst and her husband Blaine of Cape Girardeau; step-son, Danny Brandon of Lake of Egypt; five grandchildren, Calvin Brunkhorst, Addison Brunkhorst, Izzy Brunkhorst, Matthew Brunkhorst and Maelin Walker; four step grandchildren, Danielle Vaughn Cox and husband, Matthew, Bran-don Vaughn and wife, Jill, Mccartney Rea, Brandon Craig and wife, Heather; eight great grandchildren; brother, Willard "Bill" Walker of Cobden; two sisters, Janet Kay Dabler and husband, John "Jack" of North Webster, Indiana, Sandra Pender of Marion and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hattie; stepdaughter, Lori Ann Brandon Cox and two sisters, Joan and Betty Joyce.

Memorial services were Tuesday, July 25 at Meredith-Waddell Funeral Home in Herrin. The Rev. Paul Tirey officiated.
