Conservation grant awarded to Green Oaks

The village of Green Oaks recently received a $3,355 grant to continue invasive species management activities at the Dennis Dorsey Conservation Area.

The grant through the Green Region Program will help sustain a 5-year effort, led by volunteer stewards, to restore globally-imperiled northern flatwoods and vernal pond habitat, oak/hickory woodland, and high-quality wetlands.

ComEd and Openlands provided more than $200,000 this year in grant funding to support 25 community conservation and preservation projects in northern Illinois.
