Arlington Heights police seek reaccreditation

Representatives of the Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies will visit Arlington Heights Sunday, Aug. 13, to examine the police department's policy and procedures, management, operations and support services, officials said.

Accreditation reflects recognition of law enforcement best practices. The department is seeking reaccreditation after initially being certified in 2008, then again in 2011 and 2014.

Agency personnel and members of the community are invited to offer comments at a public hearing at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the community room of Arlington Heights village hall. Additional comments can be made by calling (847) 368-5881 between 2 and 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 14. Officials say comments must address the department's ability to comply with the commission's standards.
