Thousands of photos digitally preserved at Des Plaines History Center

The Des Plaines History Center has digitally preserved 12,000 historical photographs, allowing visitors and researchers easy access to the documents.

After receiving a grant from the Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board in October 2016, the history center began scanning the photos in high resolution. The scanned images are stored in a digital repository.

The history center will also be able to accept donations of images and documents that donors scan themselves or create digitally.

The history center will be able to provide copies of the files for researchers via email or cloud technology.
