Lincolnshire families come together to celebrate Independence Day

Children dressed in red, white and blue danced and sang to songs by Miss Jamie's Farm to open up Lincolnshire's Red, White and Boom! celebration Monday.

Families filled Spring Lake Park for the two-day 4th of July festival hosted by the village of Lincolnshire and the Lincolnshire Community Association.

"This is one of the real ways that we found to bring this community together. They can see their neighbors, say hello to their neighbors and enjoy without worrying about transportation, and we are all right here," LCA President Mike Denning said.

Monday's festival featured beer and food court tents, a dunk tank, classic car show, face painting, rides and entertainment by Personalities Inc,

"It's a great chance for the families to get together in the summer and there are lots of fun activities," said Lincolnshire resident Kateri Rapport. "My kids had fun in the bouncy house and I enjoyed listening to music sponsored by the Lincolnshire Community Nursery School."

Tuesday's events include the Lincolnshire Rotary Red, White & Blueberry pancake breakfast, a 5K run, a parade and a cardboard boat regatta. The festivities conclude with musical entertainment by Dixie Crush and fireworks in the park.
