Fox Lake celebrates 110th birthday with parade, fireworks

The United States isn't the only place celebrating a birthday this week.

Fox Lake observed its 110th anniversary Saturday with a parade, a festival and a fireworks show.

Hundreds flocked to the village for the Celebrate Fox Lake event, which kicked off Saturday afternoon with a parade from Grant High School to the Towne Center Plaza on Rollins Road. After the parade, the celebration moved to the Lakefront Park Building for food, a beer tent and activities for kids.

Live entertainment included a scheduled performance by country band Wild Daisy, leading up to a fireworks display over the lake.
