Rent a lifejacket at Palatine Fire Department

Free lifejacket rentals are being offered by the Palatine Fire Department. The program allows for families to check out children's lifejackets for up to one week. Fire officials said the jackets are particularly needed for kids vacationing near water, days at the local pool, boating or other activities not on land. To check out lifejackets, call the Palatine Fire Department at (847) 202-6340 or visit: Station 82, 1475 N. Hicks Road; Station 83, 987 E. Palatine Road; Station 84, 220 W. Illinois Ave.; or Station 85 at 39 E. Colfax St. All loans require some basic information, including a copy of a driver's license and number of days a lifejacket is needed. It's preferable to bring children to a fire station so a firefighter can properly size them with the appropriate lifejacket.
