Aurora man gets 13 years for child sex assault
An Aurora man is headed to prison for sexually assaulting a child he knew, officials said.
Miguel A. Martinez, 56, agreed Thursday to a sentence of 13 years in exchange for pleading guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault and unlawful restraint, according to a news release from the Kane County state's attorney's office.
According to prosecutors, Martinez sexually assaulted a young child he knew, who was younger than 12 on June 2, 2016. In addition, he admitted he abused a second child, who also was younger than 12, between May 1, 2015, and June 2, 2016, prosecutors said.
Martinez must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence; he will receive credit for 377 days served in the Kane County jail. He also will be required to register for life as a sex offender.
