Elmhurst kids embark on Eldridge Park adventure

Elmhurst's Eldridge Park doesn't exactly remind you of the Amazon rain forest.

And it won't easily be confused with the jungles of Africa, the wilds of the Sonoran Desert or the icy landscape of the North Pole.

But on Saturday, the park offered its share of adventures for kids who could do a little fishing, hunt for bugs or come face-to-face with some exotic animals.

It was all part of the Eldridge Adventure Day celebration, sponsored by Elmhurst Park District, that also included carnival games, face painting and several food trucks for mom and dad. And if all that wasn't enough, visitors also could check out the Elmhurst Police Department's mobile command unit.
