Former Lake Barrington administrator lands job in Highwood

Former Lake Barrington Village Administrator Christopher Martin has a new job with Highwood as assistant city manager.

Martin, who was Lake Barrington's top administrator for about 11 years, resigned in January. The village and Martin both said he resigned to pursue other opportunities.

Because he resigned, Martin wasn't entitled to receive any sort of severance pay, according to a copy of his contract obtained by the Daily Herald. Despite that, the village board voted to give him six months' base salary as well as compensation for unused sick and vacation days, which came out to $143,598.
