Palatine library taps interim director

Palatine Public Library District officials announced the selection of an interim director Wednesday.

Library board members tapped Melissa Gardner to serve as the interim boss starting June 16.

She'll replace Director Anthony Auston, who announced his resignation to take a library job in Mount Prospect.

Gardner has been assistant director of public services in Palatine since December 2014.

"I am dedicated to serving the Palatine library community, and I appreciate the opportunity to use my skills and experience in this capacity," Gardner said. Consultant John Keister and Associates has been hired to lead the search for a new director.
