Two tenants seek lease extensions at old Miner Junior High

Two organizations are looking to extend their leases at the former Miner Junior High, 1101 E. Miner St. in Arlington Heights.

The Northwest Suburban Special Education Organization operates a therapeutic day school program and A Mother's Touch runs an early childhood center there. Members of the school board of Arlington Heights Elementary District 25, which owns the building, said this week they are favorable to new 10-year leases for both groups, from July 2018 through June 2028. NSSEO pays about $400,000 and A Mother's Touch $95,000 annually.

The board also approved a $174,000 Miner gym upgrade project to replace the old floor and add new paint. Bleachers from Thomas Middle School will also be relocated to Miner.
