Palatine OK if car show makes some extra noise

Any additional noise that might come from Grossinger Chevrolet at Lake-Cook and Rand roads in Palatine would be in the name of helping charitable causes.

Palatine village council members have agreed to a one-day waiver of Palatine's amplified sound ordinance to accommodate the fourth annual Best in Show Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show at Grossinger from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, June 4. The potential for extra noise exists because there will be mobile speakers facing toward Rand for background music and announcements.

Proceeds from the $15 registration fee and auction table will benefit three animal charities: The Buddy Foundation, Reach Rescue Inc. and Pits for Patriots. Music, vendors and a complimentary lunch will be part of the fun. Registration will end at noon or until the lot fills.

BGV Motorsports is staging the show with Grossinger. BGV owner Steven Howorka told the village council the show had been at a nearby Harley-Davidson dealership in Palatine, but shifted to Grossinger this year because it has a larger parking lot.
