Buffalo Grove police host 'Bowl with a Cop' June 9

The Buffalo Grove Police Department will host "Bowl with a Cop" June 9 in an effort to build relationships with young people in the community.

Area children are invited to Bowlero, 350 N. McHenry Road in Buffalo Grove, beginning at noon that day for two hours of free bowling with police officers.

"Spending time with our community youth in a relaxed, social setting will help build a trusting relationship between them and officers." Community Relations Officer Matthew Mills said in a news release. "When kids see that there is a lot more to a police officer than writing tickets and making arrests, our hope is they will be more willing to seek out to police in the future when they need help or witness a crime."

Participants are encouraged to register with the department by contacting Officer Mills at (847) 459-2560 or via email at mmills@vbg.org.

The Buffalo Grove Police Department approached Bowlero manager, Jay Gordon, regarding the event and he generously agreed to provide as many lanes and shoe rentals as were needed to make it possible. Bowlero also will be offering hot dogs and fountain drinks for $1 each.
