Patton Elementary in Arlington Heights walks for Make-A-Wish

Patton Elementary School, having raised more than $100,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation over the last decade, sought to grant more wishes for children in need as part of its 10th annual Walk-A-Thon.

Clad in special T-shirts purchased to help raise money, students at the Arlington Heights school walked the square block route around the campus after school Wednesday, while some exuberant others ran in segments of the route.

Students also got to give a "Pie in the Face" to their favorite teachers on Tuesday as part of a fundraising contest. And in the last several weeks students could participate in special "spirit" days such as Pajama Day and Crazy Hair Day in exchange for donations.

The school has been inducted into the foundation's Society of Hope for the $100,000 fundraising milestone.
