Mundelein vet to lead Veterans Assistance Commission

Afghan War Veteran Andrew Tangen of Mundelein was elected Wednesday as superintendent of the Veterans Assistance Commission of Lake County.

Tangen was a lieutenant commander in the U.S. Navy and served multiple deployments to Afghanistan as officer in charge of naval support for special forces.

He is a graduate of The Citadel Military College of South Carolina and the John Marshall Law School, and is licensed as an attorney in Illinois.

He is replacing retiring Superintendent Michael Peck, who served in the role for 10 years.
