Lake County Board begins process of filling Nixon seat
The recent death of longtime Lake County Board member Audrey Nixon of North Chicago has left a vacancy on the panel, and officials are seeking applications from potential replacements.
Nixon represented the 14th District, which includes parts of North Chicago, Waukegan, Park City and Gurnee. Applicants must be at least 18 years old, registered voters, and residents of the 14th District. They must also be Democrats, like Nixon.
Anyone interested in representing the district on the board should send a resume and letter of interest to: countyboard@lakecountyil.gov. Applications also may be sent to Lake County Board Chairman Aaron Lawlor, Lake County Board Office, 10th Floor, 18 North County St., Waukegan, IL, 60085. The deadline is May 26.
