Suspicious vehicle report leads to two arrests in Naperville

Naperville police say a resident's suspicions about an occupied van were spot-on and led to charges against two people for possession of a stolen vehicle and drug paraphernalia as well as several driving offenses.

Jahamari P. Densmore, 19, of Woodridge, and Dylan R. Salter, 18, of Bolingbrook, have been charged in the case that began about 7:25 a.m. Thursday and included a perimeter set up in a central Naperville neighborhood and an "extensive" K-9 search, police Cmdr. Lou Cammiso said in a news release.

Densmore has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle - a 2002 Honda Odyssey minivan reported stolen from Woodridge - as well as possession of drug paraphernalia, reckless driving and 10 other traffic offenses. Salter has been charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, police said.

The charges came after police approached what a caller described as a suspicious minivan Thursday morning in the area of River Road and Rickert Drive.

When officers attempted the stop the vehicle, its driver, Densmore, took "evasive measures" through business parking lots, trying to flee, police said.

Officers didn't chase the van, but soon saw what looked like the same vehicle crashed through a fence and into a backyard. They watched two people run from the car and described them over the radio so other officers could establish a perimeter to contain the suspects.

Police said officers found Salter quickly a few blocks away. Then they began an "extensive" search using a K-9 officer to find Densmore.

By 9:18 a.m., officers watched Densmore enter a building in the area of 1200 Rickert Drive, where they took him into custody inside.
