Big Band era comes to life at Lincolnshire library concert

The Vernon Area Public Library in Lincolnshire hosted the Steve Cooper Orchestra Tuesday as part its ongoing Senior Series.

The orchestra performed songs from the early days of radio and television, and musical arrangements of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Woody Herman and others.

Steve Cooper, of LaGrange Park, has been performing in the Chicago area for more than 50 years, and, according to his website, his orchestra has become one of the most popular ballroom bands in the Midwest. Ron Smolen of the Ron Smolen Orchestra in Chicago joined Cooper and drummer Frank Morgan, also from Chicago, in the program.
