Buffalo Grove gets grant, cutting cost of street project

Buffalo Grove trustees approved an intergovernmental agreement with Cook County for the Lake-Cook Road Improvement Project to finalize the terms and costs associated with the project - and saved a few bucks in the process.

Village Engineer Darren Monico told the board that the local village share for the project for such items as streetlights, sidewalks, traffic signals, moving utilities and emergency vehicle pre-emption - originally estimated at $4 million - is only $2.17 million, thanks to a federal Surface Transportation grant of $1.6 million for streetlights.
