Itasca

Q: Describe the atmosphere of Itasca.

A: Itasca is a great place to live, work and play. The community is family-friendly and every year residents enjoy the small town atmosphere of Itasca. Itasca is home to some of the area's best festivals, including the Highland Games in June, Itascafest in July, and Oktoberfest in September. In partnership with Hamilton Partners, Itasca puts on the largest fireworks display in DuPage County on Independence Day.

Q: What attracts corporate clients?

A: Itasca offers a central location with quick and easy access to destinations throughout the region and nation. We are conveniently located just five miles west of O'Hare International Airport at the crossroads of I-290, I-355, and the new IL-390.

Public transportation options include Metra train service on the Milwaukee District West Line to Downtown Chicago and Pace Bus service connecting our business parks to the CTA Blue line and other suburban communities. The Village is also working to provide bike and car sharing programs to help connect public transportation stops with our business parks.

Q: What about the historic downtown?

A: Itasca has a quaint downtown, which features local merchants, service businesses, and restaurants. Just south of this area is the community's signature green space, Usher Park. On many Saturday afternoons, visitors will see couples posing for wedding pictures in Usher Park's gazebo with the historic church in the background. During the summer, the Village sponsors a concert series at the gazebo or outside the nearby Historic Train Depot Museum. Surrounding Itasca's downtown area are many historic homes, some built in the mid-1800s.

Q: When it comes to corporate meetings and events, what does the village have to offer?

A: Itasca has 5 hotels with a total of over 1,000 guest rooms to meet your needs at all budgets and price points.

All Itasca hotels are conveniently located near major transportation, shopping, and dining. Many are pet friendly and offer local shuttle service to O'Hare International Airport and to local businesses within a 5 mile radius.

Q: What is one interesting fact about Itasca that most may not know.

A: Located just minutes away from Downtown Itasca and the Itasca Metra Station is the Spring Brook Nature Center. Since opening in 1980, the Spring Brook Nature Center has been a resource for education and conservation in suburban Chicago. There are easy hiking trails through a shady woodland, fragrant prairie, and a lush cattail marsh. You can also stop in at the visitor's center where children of all ages will enjoy free crafts, view an aquarium and more.

Q: What about relaxation? What do you suggest?

A: There are ample recreational opportunities in Itasca. Over 300,000 people visit Itasca's parks on an annual basis. The Village has established a network of walking and bike paths around the community, including the Itasca Riverwalk which links Downtown Itasca to the Spring Brook Nature Center, Itasca Waterpark, and Itasca Municipal Complex. We're continuously looking to ways to expand and improve on the existing network of paths.

Q: How does the Village of Itasca support the business community?

A: As part of its Economic Development Plan, the Village of Itasca has created an assistance policy for developers, businesses, and industries relocating, expanding, or remaining in the Village. The Community Development Department serves as the point of contact for questions regarding business resources including: existing retail, employment, infrastructure, fees, permitting, special event sponsorship, marketing opportunities, incentives, planning and zoning, codes and licenses.
