1. Single Sheet Cards
- Minimum stock thickness: 007"
- Minimum size: 5" X 7"
- Maximum size: 11" X 12.5"
- Minimum stock weight: 70 pound
2. Pre-Print inserts & Newsprint Sections
- Minimum stock thickness: 003"
- Minimum thickness (total number of pages): 006"
- Minimum size (folded edge): 7"
- Maximum size (folded edge): 12.5"
- Minimum size (cut edge): 5"
- Maximum size (cut edge): 11"
3. Machinable Edge: All preprints must have a single straight
machinable edge.
- Minimum size (machinable edge): 5"
- Maximum size (machinable edge): 11"
4. Bags, envelopes, oversized, undersized, or product samples
are special inserts and require prior approval and may incur additional
cost. Samples for testing and evaluation may be required.

5. General format information
Stitched sections may be stitched only on the fold or backbone.
NO section under
24 tabloid pages should be stitched. Cards coupons, envelopes, and
ect. May not be
attached to the outside pages. Variations to specifications are
subject to extra costs.
The production department reserves the right to bill the customer
for excess labor
costs due to improperly stitched, trimmed, folded, sized, or shipped
parts.
B. Packing Requirements
1. Maximum pallet dimensions are 50" long X 50" wide
2. Maximum acceptable weight is 2,400 lbs.
3. Maximum allowable height is 5 1/2 feet from the floor to the
top of the loaded pallet
4. Inserts should be properly jogged in a min of 4-inch high lifts,
not to exceed a maximum of 8-inch high lifts.
5. Each lift should contain approximately 2,400 tabloid pages
or equivalent.
6. Inserts should NOT be tied or banded together in bundles with
rope, plastic, string, straps, or rubber bands.
7. Inserts should be brick stacked with interlocking layers for
maximum stability.
8. A cardboard divider must be placed between turns/rows to keep
inserts stable and flat.
9. When possible stack skid with folded edges of inserts toward
the center of the skid.
10. Pallet tops should be cardboard, hard wood, or sturdy synthetic
the same size as the pallet base.
11. Finished pallet should be securely banded or plastic wrapped
with corners protected.
12. Open bottom pallets/skids are preferred.
C. Shipping & delivery requirements
Pallet Identification - Each pallet must have the insert and a pallet
label displayed or
"flagged" on two sides. The following information should
be on the label:
1. Publication (Daily Herald)
2. Advertiser
3. Insert name (and version if applicable)
4. Issue date
5. Total insert quantity shipped
6. Insert quantity per pallet
7. Inserts per turn
8. Total weight per pallet
9. Pallet tare weight (total weight less insert weight)
Multiple Versions of the same insert require version identification
on the front and/or
back of the insert. Each version must be on a separate pallet with
appropriate flagging.
Bill of Lading
For your records and ours, the bill of lading should contain the
following:
1. Publication (Daily Herald)
2. Advertiser
3. Insert name (and version if applicable)
4. Issue date
5. Total insert quantity shipped
6. Number of pallets
7. Inserts quantity per pallet
8. Quantity per version (if applicable)
9. Printer contact and phone number
D. Deadlines: DAILY HERALD
1. Order Deadlines
a. Monday-Saturday issues - 5:00P.M. 3 days prior to
issue date
b. Sunday issue - 5:00P.M. Tuesday prior to the issue
date.
2. Delivery Deadlines
a. Monday-Saturday issue inserts should be delivered
to the Paddock Printing Center no more than 14 days (Monday
8:00A.M.) or less than 3 days (Friday 5:00P.M.) prior to the
issue date.
b. Sunday issue inserts should be delivered to the Paddock
Printing Center no more
than 16 days (Friday 5:pm) or less than 5 days (Tuesday 5:00P.M.)
Prior to issue date.
c. Paddock Publications reserves the right to change
deadlines to accommodate for holidays. For Thanksgiving issue
the order deadline is 5:00P.M. Two (2) weeks (Thursday 5:00P.M.)
Prior to the issue date. The material delivery deadline is 7
days (Thursday 5:00P.M.) Prior to issue date.
3. Delivery Appointments
No appointments are required. All deliveries are handled on
a first come first serve basis. Directions are available at
(847-427-5500).
