Movies: a great escape if you can afford it

Everybody knows that our economy is really bad right now, and yet movie ticket sales are still holding steady, or rising. In fact, Fandango sold 15 percent more tickets in the first two months of this year than they sold in the first few months of last year.

So, I am left wondering if the economy is so bad, and people don't have money to spend, why are sales still up?

I think people are going to see all these movies to escape their economic issues. People are going to the movies to escape into better worlds for one or two hours. They chose to ignore their issues and watch the issues of fake characters in fake towns.

I think that this is a good idea. Escaping into an imaginary place is a good way of forgetting how bad everything is right now.

I know that if I had enough money, I'd be going to the movies every weekend.
